Synopsis
A family is invited to spend an entire weekend in a secluded home in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that a dark side lurks within the family that invited them.. Blumhouse Productions has been a major force in the horror genre since 2007’s Paranormal Activity became a worldwide sensation. The story is inspired by the experiences of Christian Tafdrup, director of the original Danish Κακές λανής (2022), who befriended a Dutch couple while on vacation in Tuscany with his wife.

Although the Dutch were somewhat socially awkward, both couples got along very well, and after returning home, Tafdrup received an invitation from a Dutch family to come to Holland. He thought about it for a moment, but decided that it would be weird for him to stay with people he didn’t really know; his story for the film came about when he unleashed his darkest fantasies about what might have happened if he had accepted (though he claims the original Dutch couple never gave off bad vibes). In the bathroom, while washing his eye, he has a subconjunctival hemorrhage in his left eye, in the next scene, his eyes are perfectly clear..

A holiday abroad with a wife and daughter leads to friendship (with another family of three) when you are on a sunny trip, a card arrives back at home, come and see how we are doing, spend a night or three inside, our bricks and mortar. You accept the invitation and set off, unaware of how much this couple likes to spend, or how they actually behave, and the trinkets they covet, if you do, it might just draw ridicule. It’s fair to say that your encounter is like no other, it doesn’t end the same way as the Danish brother (or sister), which is a shame because it was better, it was unfettered and unrestrained, leaving the viewer with more than drain pipes and gutters.

James McAvoy is brilliant, unfortunately the ending is not – watch the Danish version for that.. The last season of "What We Do in the Shadows" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
